I thought it would be reasonably easy to find a mooring within a short distance of Rotterdam, however, this proved not to be the case, and we were extremly lucky to locate a last position in the center of Ghent (Gent) in Belgium. We dashed over on a day trip to check out and secure the mooring.
The mooring is a 5 minute walk from the town centre. It is a newly laid mooring with electricity and water available to all boats. It is managed by a charming couple Pierre and Martine.
After securing the mooring and paying a small deposit we walked into town for some linch and general look around. Ghent centre is currently more of a bomb site with tremendous heavy building projects going on. This didn't distract from the beauty of the fabulous builldings, and the warmth of its people. I tnink we will be very happy here this coming winter while we plan the first years cruise.
