NEWSFLASH Renaissance has a new crew member…..
Her name is Gladys and she is a 6 month old Bleu d’Auvergne, and all this time you thought that was a cheese. Well it is, but it’s also a very beautiful breed of gundog/pointer. Black and white with hazel eyes.
With great help from some very special people we were driven out to “Refuge de Thiernay” at La Fermete, which is near Nevers. It’s a wonderful place run by some very dedicated people who take great care of mostly abandoned dogs and cats too.
We were encouraged to take our time in choosing which really paid off, because having spent some time with her now, and” googling” the breed for info, we feel we have made a good choice for both us and her.
She was an absolute star, (as were our escorting friends who waited patiently in the car) while we were in the vets getting her chipped and vaccinated. The French, bless them, never seem to be in a hurry, c’est la vie. But Gladys now has her own passport.
She seems, so far, very typical of her breed. Very companionable, likes both people and other dogs, is intelligent, (we have got her to sit when told already). She is gentle soft mouthed and curious, and appropriately barks. She’s also “drop-dead gorgeous” and very cuddly. You can tell we’re totally in love can’t you!
